USGBC Advocacy Day – Meetings with CA Legislators and Staff
S3 joined the USGBC-CA group for their annual Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento. Advocacy Days provides opportunities to: 1) expand dialogue with State Leaders on current issues, concerns, and perspectives related to green building and sustainable development; 2) establish a continuous presence with California State Leaders; and 3) be an ongoing technical resource for them and their teams. Engaged in several meetings to exchange ideas to promote California Sustainability initiatives amongst commercial building owners and commercial real estate management companies. Special interest was expressed by legislators and staff members in S3’s end-to-end phased approach in reducing emissions and decarbonization.

​California State Treasurer - Fiona Ma

S3 is actively involved in community events. At an event in Santa Anna, CA for the Mexican Consulate’s Office, S3 was introduced to the Honorable Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer. Subsequently, a meeting with held with the Honorable Fiona Ma and the California Investment Fund Board Members to discuss how to create a perpetual economy for the State of California all “fueled” by California’s Energy Goals. The focus us how compliance to energy policies, i.e. AB802, and standards, i.e. CA Title 24, provide numerous benefits to businesses across the State. In addition to follow-up meetings with her, the Honorable Fiona Ma referred us to Commissioner J. Andrew McAllister of the California Energy Commission.

International WELL Building Institute (IBWI) – WELL

S3’s core purpose is synonymous to mission and purpose of IWBI – WELL.  S3 will participate in the IWBI Healthy Building Policy Summit being held at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. on September 16, 2024. Leading brands use WELL as their evidence-based roadmap to enhance employee productivity, attract and retain top talent, demonstrate leadership and strengthen ESG performance. Daryl DeJean, Managing Partner S3, recently became a Cornerstone Member of IWBI, asked to participate as a WELL Faculty and identify solutions for consideration in Works with WELL network which validates that products and services align with WELL strategies by undergoing third-party review. S3 will be applying for Works with WELL network participation for our end-to-end approach to addressing indoor air quality.

U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)

S3’s core purpose compliments that of the USGBC.  S3 consistently patriciates and supports local, state and national events of USGBC. The vision of the USGBC is for the built environment to enhance health, equity, resilience, sustainability, and prosperity for all life and all communities. CA USGBC Leadership has been discussing with S3 on how to enhance participation in USGBC Membership and LEED Certifications. Due to the close synchronicity of our goals to achieve more sustainable and healthier spaces for us to live, learn, work and play, S3 and USGBC are collaborating on a potential new program to promote sustainability thru decarbonization initiatives focused on the commercial built environment.

IAFP Annual Meeting 2024, Long Beach, CA

A member-based association of more than 4,500 food safety professionals, IAFP is committed to advancing food safety worldwide by providing a forum for food safety professionals to exchange information on protecting the food supply. S3 participated in IAFP 2024 since our end-to-end strategic approach to providing the healthiest and safest indoor air quality can revolutionize the procedures and process promoted in food science, food safety and food technology. The food industry is a key focus market for S3 due to the global impact our approach can have on the global food supply chain.

ASHE Healthcare Facilities Innovation Conference 2024, Anaheim, CA

The American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) is the largest association dedicated to optimizing the health care-built environment. ASHE’s 12,000+ members design, build, and operate hospitals, and are involved in improving the health care physical environment from the time hospital blueprints are drawn throughout the lifespan of a facility. S3/NV5 had a booth this annual premier gathering to demonstrate how all healthcare facilities can remain continuously compliance survey ready while visualizing the real estate investment performance.

Halal Certified

S3 is pleased to announce that one of the technologies they recommend has been Halal Certified. Halal Certification demonstrates thatit does not include any “forbidden” components and has in no way been in contact with any substances or objects considered “impure”. Halal signifies what is 'permissible' in English and applies not only to food but also to various aspects of life, including finance, clothing, and behavior.

NV5
In early 2024, S3 developed a strategic alignment with NV5, a provider of technology, conformity assessment, and consulting solutions for public and private sector clients supporting infrastructure, utility, and building assets and systems. This partnership will further strengthen both S3's mission and NV5’s to provide customer focused solutions including consultation, specialty engineering, and hardware/software services.

Healthcare

S3 recently completed phase one of it's initial project with a nonprofit healthcare company involving eliminating wasted energy and California compliance certification obligations. S3 created an EUI and Infrastructure Roadmap that will advance the achievement of the company objectives regarding emission reductions and decarbonization.
